The Wireless Access Point 7215 is an indoor unit providing access and transport to the network for the mobile user. These units also act as WLAN Access Points for user access. A wireless mesh is formed among multiple Wireless Access Points by utilizing auto-discovery and self-routing technology. \r\n\r\nKey Features: \r\nWireless Access Points perform traffic collection and distribution functions for traffic as well as:\r\n-Incorporate routing and wireless transit functions\r\n-Incorporate security functions for validating connections to other Wireless APs\r\n-Incorporate security functions for controlling access by user devices\r\n-Incorporate low-cost advanced antenna designs for extended reach, simplified deployment and reliability\r\n\r\nThe Wireless Access Point 7215 provides IEEE 802.11 wireless, high-speed access for packet data services in both public and private environments. Wireless technology is utilized both for Mobile Node client (IEEE 802.11b) connection and for traffic backhaul to the fixed broadband access (wired) network (IEEE 802.11a).\r\n\r\nThe product includes two radio sub systems. One is the access radio for the Mobile Node interface (nomadic node), the other is the radio backhaul providing a communications link between other Wireless AP units and/or the wired network. The wireless backhaul is based on omni-directional antennas with diversity.\r\n\r\nThe access link radio sub-system is based on IEEE 801.11b/g WLAN standards operating in the 2.4 GHz band. Due to its greater Access Link output power, the Wireless AP 7215 should provide ~ 50% greater coverage area per AP than standard indoor rated Access Points. The transit link (TL) radio sub-system is based on the IEEE 802.11a standard operating in the bands at 5.740 - 5.840 and 5.4 GHz in release 2.0.\r\n\r\nThe Wireless AP 7215 uses the same radio modules and software as the Indoor/Outdoor rated Wireless AP 7220. This allows for simplified management, as knowledge of one AP translates immediately into knowledge of the other.
